music theory: pre-made exercises
ABOUT THESE EXERCISES
Each of these exercises are designed to test the corresponding skill using identification or construction, while simultaneously giving the teacher feedback on how each student is doing.
Each time a student clicks on a link, it creates a unique set of questions. This means that a student may take the same exercise more than once, and he/she will be asked a different set of questions each time. It is therefore encouraged to have students do these exercises multiple times to enhance their skills.
DISTRIBUTING THESE EXERCISES
To distribute the exercises, simply copy the link next to the exercise you would like to use and message/post that link for your students. You may also link this page and ask students to click on the exercise of your choice (though I would highly recommend e-mailing/posting a link so a student does not accidentally click the wrong exercise)
STARTING AN EXERCISE
Once a student clicks on a link, they’ll be brought to a page called “Challenge Mode”. They simple click/tap on the “Start Challenge” mode and they are off.
WHEN A STUDENT FINISHES
When finished, each student will be asked to “View Report” or “Start Challenge”. Have them click on “View Report” to see their results in a Progress Report. Under “Verification Code”, they can “sign” their report with their name. Once signed, they are given options to “Copy Link”, or “Copy Code”. “Copy Link” will allow them to copy a unique link that, once clicked on, will bring up their results. This link can be e-mailed/posted to a teacher. Alternatively, “Copy Code” will copy the unique code for their results and a teacher can past the code into this page to reveal the progress report: https://www.musictheory.net/tools/checker.
Curious what each exercise is like or how hard it is? Simply click on the link and take the exercise yourself!
